Annual Conference

We don’t need to tell you: Some days it’s tough to get inspired to do our jobs. The pressures of budgets, discipline, grades, current events, etc., are a drain on our energy.

That’s why this year EEAI decided to focus on revitalization. YOUR revitalization.

And that’s why this year’s theme is Fun-ology because the science of fun will awaken the ecological spirit to energize us and help us create better stewards.

To kick off the weekend, we are starting Friday afternoon with field trips, ranging from Kinder Forest at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center, the Caproratta Family Natural Area, the River Preserve History Tour, the 10 Lakes Canoe Trip, and Going Green in Goshen ending at Goshen Brewing Company that was built in a brownfield!

Sessions include Edible Plants, Birding by Ear, Plant ID-ing, Nature Sketching, Saving the World Through Bumper Stickers, Paper Collaging, how to throw the Atlatl, Fire by Friction, Kaleidoscope making, Trip planning, Song Writing 101 and more!

Our annual song-writing contest Friday night will be judged by the Slugs! The theme: How Does Environmental Education/the Out of Doors Bring you Joy!?

And our Keynote speaker is a band! The Banana Slug String Band have been inspiring kids and adults for over 25 years, and are coming all the way from Santa Cruz California to spend the weekend with us. On Friday night they’ll share their history, inspirations and what gives them hope. On Saturday night, we are staging a Banana Slug String Band Concert for families around the region to get all of us singing about how “Dirt Made My Lunch!”. Wear your dancing shoes!

And if that wasn’t enough we plan on having yoga and a masseuse on hand (so to speak!)

Please come, get inspired, network, laugh, dance, and take this energy back to your classroom, nature park, program or project.
